Charlotte Replies :
I studied a degree in ‘Surface Decoration’ for 3 years at University where I specialised in ceramics. I have been continuing to develop my work from my workshop at home ever since. I love my returning customer base, I enjoy making pieces that other people like enough to buy and enjoy themselves, having my own little workshop where I love to spend lots of time. The work in my workshop varies from day to day – it generally involves slip casting vases, glazing, rolling out and prepping clay, hand building, loading the kiln, packing orders, pinning up inspirational images on my ‘mood’ wall, and drinking lots of tea!

So where do you get your inspiration from Charlotte?

Charlotte Replies :
My inspiration usually comes from the natural world around me. I love looking at landscapes and seascapes in particular the close up detail of textures, patterns and colours of organic surfaces.

I love the colours and textures of the seaside theme it is so beautiful. Lovely colours and I Took inspiration from shells found at the beach. It was great to have your mood board to look at too. I wanted to make something that would capture the location and scene that Emma loves so much in the story. I wanted to capture the love triangle of the story too.

I have really enjoyed working with different materials such as melted glass to create the right colour and texture for these pieces.

I am really happy with the end result and of course each plaque is unique.

The colours and textures reflect the landscape of the beach scene perfectly.

Each Plaque is really tactile with a beautiful contrast of colours and textures on it. The rough and smooth of the relationships in the story.

These unique pieces are finished off with a turquoise ribbon and will look great in any room of the house.
